Journalism becoming insecure in Pakistan. Why?

Being a journalist in Pakistan is not an easy job now a day, as the rate of killing journalist in Pakistan is increasing day by day. Global rights organizations have rated the country Pakistan as one of the most dangerous for journalists and an increasing number of reporters being killed in the last two years have made it the deadliest in the world. It is now becoming very common for a Pakistani journalist, or their family, to live under fear and threats. Reporters working in the field have been supposedly threatened, tortured andby political groups as well as state and enemies of home land.
The Pakistani journalists are forced to not only work in poor working conditions but also receive not enough compensation. They are not only insecure but also under constant mental, physical and economic pressure to support their families. There are about 63 journalists who have killed and the number of injured is not less than 350. The causes of these deaths are as Pakistan's countless conflicts. Some are caught in suicide blasts; others targeted by Taliban militants or Baloch insurgents. In Karachi, several reporters have been gunned down as part of the city's political influence war.
So is this bearable for journalist community? Why are they not been protected by the government and media groups? Will journalist and reporters be more secure? As they work for the country and bring real faces of the masses and encourage the nation to make right decision, so why the journalist are not receiving respect in their own nation?
Being a student of Mass Communication me myself also having a fear about my profession and future because of the insecurity. There is no doubt that the working journalist and the future journalist are becoming afraid to do work in this field. Journalism plays an important role in any society and it is a well known and respectable field. So it’s a humble request to our government to take prompt action for all trouble makers and try to make secure our journalist and reporters.
